Today is the last day of the ride. Two days ago I road from the Dells to Toledo Ohio. I stayed in a generic motel located at the intersection of two freeways. Sounds like a clever location. Here is the navigation to get there.

Riding the Hayabusa this far has been hard. Lots of stops, and then back on the road. A ride that would take 8 hours on the Beemer will take me 10 hours.

I ate a delicious German lunch with 2 German beers during my rest day in the Dells.

One beer no effect; two beers and I am drunk. Two young people were tending the small bar. The woman was from Romania; the man from Turkey. Keep in mind we are in a small town in Wisconsin. I mentioned Glacier Park to them. The man said he wanted to ride the empire builder with his girlfriend to Seattle, but it was hard to figure out how to take two weeks off.

After lunch I walked back to my hotel. I stopped by a fountain in a park. It was dedicated to a minister who lived in the Dells from the 1920’s until he died in the mid ‘60s. He had such an impact on the community. He immigrated from Wales as a young man. That’s when I started to cry. Once you have experienced the advantages of living in a country of immigrants, there’s no going back. I have some personal experience with that.
